Classification and types of property lawyers
Property law deals with many complex and technical terms, and has a vast history, which needs to be understood before practising such law. Thus, becoming a property lawyer can be very difficult, though the rewards are plenty. Property lawyers these days have starting salaries of over 80,000 dollars a years, and the salaries just keep getting higher year after year.
Depending on the type of property in question, property lawyers can be of mainly twp types. These classifications arose mainly in the late 19th century, when it was clear that there was a vast difference between real as well as personal property. While no more significant or meaningful, it is still necessary that one understand the differences and the fact that the laws pertaining to both can be different. Since most of the laws have since been rewritten to mean the same for both real and personal property, the same property lawyer can practise both types of property law. These types or subclasses of property law include law that deals with corporeal items such as tangible objects like land, as well as law that deals with incorporeal items such as right of way etc.
However, as mentioned above, such distinction are now almost meaningless since every law course related to property law will cover laws pertaining to both types, thus eliminating the need for two different lawyers. A single lawyer can perform both the functions easily, without much strain. Generally family lawyers act as property lawyers as well, considering their good understanding of the family’s needs.
